The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) is a membership organization that promotes the health of women and newborns. Its mission is to strengthen the nursing profession through advocacy, research, education and other professional and clinical resources for nurses and other health care professionals.

The postpartum period is a critical time for women and their newborns. It is important to closely monitor a woman’s health during this recovery time. Two common causes of maternal morbidity and maternal mortality are severe hypertension and venous thromboembolism. Even healthy women who give birth are at risk for these complications.

AWHONN needed a cost-effective way to deliver critical and timely standardized postpartum discharge education to nurses about the warning signs of hypertension and venous thromboembolism.

Using Articulate Storyline 2, Information Experts developed and narrated the training for two courses, one consisting of nine modules and the other seven modules. Enhancements including inserting text fade-ins and fly-ins to help maintain the learner’s attention and interest. The Information Experts Team also created and provided access to an online review system so the client was easily able to review and provide feedback.
