WASHINGTON, DC, November 15, 2006 – The Dream It. Do It. Website [www.DreamItDoIt.com] was awarded a 2006 International Davey Gold Award -- the highest honors for creative excellence --by the International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVF). The site was created by The Manufacturing Institute of the National Association of Manufacturers; a creative and development team led by Information Experts, of Reston, Virginia; and Cyphon Design, of Portland, Oregon.
“We’re honored that the Dream It. Do It. web site was recognized for its creativity and excellence by such a prestigious international visual arts organization,” commented Phyllis Eisen, Vice President of The Manufacturing Institute and founder of the Dream It. Do It. campaign.
2006 Davey Award winners [www.daveyawards.com] were selected from among 3,400 entries from small ad agencies, interactive agencies, production firms, in-house creative professionals, graphic designers, design firms, and public relations firms from all over the world.
The multi-regional Dream It. Do It. manufacturing careers and economic development campaign was initiated and is managed in national partnership by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), The Manufacturing Institute (the NAM’s research and education arm), with local consortia across the United States comprising business, education, workforce development and community leaders. The campaign is dedicated to helping young people (ages 16-26) find and prepare for careers they can be passionate about in today’s evolving, high-tech manufacturing.
The site contains video profiles of manufacturing employees engaged in compelling work; key facts on careers available, with salary ranges and responsibilities; videos that show how things are made; “career toolkit” applications that help young people discover the types of jobs that match their passions and personalities. Best of all, as the campaign continues to expand, young people all over the country will be able to gain regional information about advanced manufacturing professional and educational opportunities targeted to their interests.
“This site can really make a difference in someone’s approach to their career – and therefore their life,” said Peg Walton, Director, Workforce Initiatives at The Manufacturing Institute. “Dream It. Do It. is helping young people understand and connect with the exciting careers available in advanced manufacturing. At the same time, it’s helping manufacturers gain the skilled workforce they need to stay competitive.”
