Business Development Manager — Federal Government Accounts

Position Profile:
The Business Development Manager – Federal Government Accounts
is the face and future of Information Experts’ Government
practice. This position is responsible for sales and strategic business
development in the Federal government sector and will agressively
work to grow the Federal government practice. The person in this
position knows the difference between “business development’
and “sales” and isn’t afraid to aggressively pursue
business opportunities.
Principal Responsibilities:
Be an Information Expert demonstrating our core values and commitment
to our clients:
Meet (and exceed) corporate and personal financial/sales targets
Drive Federal government sales and manage relationships with
existing and new accounts
Research, develop, and support business activities to ensure
Federal business growth plans and financial goals are met
Develop and maintain marketing and sales plans for the Federal
sector
Implement sales strategies for new government clients including
proposal approach and format, relevant project profiles and references
Sell solutions to existing and new government accounts and
manage the accounts throughout the entire sales cycle
Stays abreast of regulatory changes, laws, and financing options
specific to the Federal sector
Document and maintain related business development and sales
records including client listings, business pipeline tools, and
budgets
Support and encourage coordination and teamwork with all other
areas of Information Experts to sell and maintain business relations
Required Qualifications:
Proven track record of overachievement of quota, success in
cold calling, prospecting, qualifying and closing business
Highly skilled in identifying and developing business solutions
to meet client needs; proven success selling to Federal Government
clients
Superior ability to engage a client in meaningful dialog, problem
solving, questioning, listening, and solutions-identification
Outstanding written and oral communication skills; must have
proven proposal leadership and facilitation skills and excellent
presentation skills
Strong ability to creatively use resources and find solutions
to unique problems
Experience in setting appropriate company and customer expectations
Must be highly motivated, a self starter, results-oriented,
an independent thinker and a team player
Must have patience, flexibility, and a good sense of humor
Minimum travel (25%) required
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business with a marketing communications
focus preferred
A minimum of 5 years of successful selling to the Federal sector
required having achieved an average sales quota of at least $5M
per year in consulting services
Training in any sales methodology a plus
