Senior Communications Strategist (On Client Site)

Position Profile:

Be an outstanding communications strategist. Use your communications skills to help develop and implement communications campaigns. This person will consult to clients regarding content of education programs, websites, and other communication vehicles. The individual in this role will be expected to identify communications needs through feedback and an explicit understanding of the audience, and then apply that knowledge toward the strategic planning, management and influence of communication vehicles. This position will also provide client relationship management and project management to manage the smooth implementation of communication programs and strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify key initiatives and consult and strategize with clients to identify comprehensive communication campaigns.
  • Collaborate with clients to determine appropriate messaging and distribution of communications by acting as an internal expert resource on reaching and engaging advisors/field employees
  • Work with key stakeholders to understand key messaging, strategic and organizational needs
  • Proactively work with clients to recommend and implement ongoing communication and education strategies.
  • Act as the primary communications consultant/contact for clients
  • Participate in client meetings to represent their clients' communication needs and recommend communication solutions.
  • Manage the client relationship so as to ensure confidence in communication support of plans.
  • Work with writers and designers to manage communication development projects and rollout campaigns with meticulous attention to detail so as to ensure flawless execution/delivery of materials.
  • Must work well in a team environment and demonstrate enthusiasm for the work and present strategy recommendations in a dynamic and engaging manner.

** Located in Washington DC. Must be available to work onsite 5 days per week.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field; masters preferred
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated, in-depth communications oversight knowledge and experience
  • Expertise initiating and analyzing research to determine effectiveness/best business practices
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively apply strategic business goals to improve daily work processes
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience in linking and prioritizing messages according to audience needs
  • Experience communicating effectively across geographically diverse populations, both verbally and in writing
